The Sunshine Blogger Award II

Thanks so much to my fabulous book blogging friend Amanda from @If There’s a Haunted House I’ll Read It for nominating me for this award. This is my second time getting to do this tag!

If you all aren’t following Amanda then you really need to be! She’s such a lovely person and a really great blogger who writes such interesting reviews; definitely one of my favourite people in this lovely book blogging community.

What is the Sunshine Blogger Award?

The Sunshine Blogger Award is given to those who are creative, positive and inspiring while spreading sunshine to the blogging community.

How does it work?

  • Thank the blogger(s) who nominated you in a blog post and link back to their blog.
  • Answer the 11 questions sent by the person who nominated you.
  • Nominate 11 new blogs to receive the award and write them 11 new questions.
  • List the rules and display the Sunshine Blogger Award logo in your post and/or on your blog.

Questions set by Amanda

One. What book would you want to see made in to a movie?

I have answered this before LOL! So I’m going to switch up my answer a little bit and say ‘Before Ever After’ by Samantha Sotto. I can just imagine this book making a dreamy little film filled with fabulous locations; it is partly set during a European holiday tour and also set in historic times. And I would really love to see the gorgeous love story between Shelley and Max play out on the big screen. I really enjoy watching romantic dramas and I think this book would really work on screen.

Two. Do you have any bookish pet peeves?

I really hate it when authors try to incorporate song lyrics into their stories (I see you Daisy Jones and The Six!). They never work in my opinion as they always seem to jerk me out of the narrative. Songs just do not work without music for me.

Three. What character do you hate the MOST?

Nick Carraway from The Great Gatsby.

Hate him.

Most insipid narrator ever.

I spent the whole time reading the book wanting to scream at him to have some gumption! Come up with an opinion for once. Fight for what he believed in or for what he loved… but instead he just narrated in this strangest of manners that I could not get behind at all. Far too detached and lacking in emotion.

Four. If you could travel to any fictional world, where would you go to?

I have definitely answered this question in another tag and really I am finding it hard to change up my answer… It still has to be The Cemetery of Forgotten Books which is a library from The Shadow of the Wind by Carlos Ruiz Zafon.

But a close second would be the underground layer of the goblin king from Wintersong by S. Jae-Jones because I imagine it to be a most wonderfully intoxicating place.

Five. When you’re not reading what do you spend your time doing?

I like to just hang out with my dog a lot. And just chatting to family and friends… is it weird I put my dog before people lol!?!?! I also love watching tennis. I am such a fan of Roger Federer and Andy Murray.

Six. Pancakes or waffles?

Pancakes. Every single time.

One cup of flour, one cup of milk, one beaten medium egg, one peeled and grated pear, one teaspoon of baking powder and say hello to the fluffiest pancakes you will ever eat! Although technically I actually prefer crepe style pancakes.

Seven. Hot or cold weather?

Neither?????????????? I like Autumn and Spring. Not really a fan of extremes.

Eight. What was the last book you highly recommended?

My Dark Vanessa by Kate Elizabeth Russell.

I would highly recommend it to fans of hard hitting and thought provoking topical literature. Definitely a book to get your hands on next year when it is released.

Nine. Is there a book you wish you could read for the first time again?

Have definitely answered this one before in another tag and I went with Pride and Prejudice. Still a great choice but I think I would also like to be able to read The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy for the first time again. Because it’s just such a fabulously wacky book and it would be nice to experience its craziness all over again with no notion of what is coming next in the book.

Ten. If you could meet any character from a book, who would you meet?

Can I be shallow and say Daemon from Jennifer L Armentrout’s Lux series because he’s hot???? Or Mr Darcy from Pride and Prejudice because he too is hot???????? I know… I have no shame!!!!

Eleven. What’s the best looking book you have on your shelf?

I think it has to be Circe by Madeline Miller.

And those are all my answers!!! I’m not going to tag anyone in particular this time around because it is so recently that I first did this tag. You can see my questions and answers from that here.

  1. Great post! My Dark Vanessa in addition to all the books you posted for question 4 look so good and lovely. I agree very much about lyrics, I read a romance a while back where the love interest was in a band and the author tried to write some lyrics of the songs he was performing and I got such second hand embarrassment lol..

    1. It’s a tip I picked up from one of Jamie Oliver’s tv appearances and it really does add an extra dimension to a very simple and very quick American style pancake batter. The pear almost melts into the batter and you’re just left with the right amount of sweetness and just gorgeously fluffy yet moist quick pancakes.
