Guilty Reader Book Tag

I was tagged by Alys @Alys in Bookland to do The Guilty Reader Book Tag. This tag was apparently created by ReadLikeWildfire on YouTube but the video is now unavailable.

The aim of this tag is to answer ten questions about my bookish habits that may or may not spark some feelings of guilt from me!!!!

So here we go!

Have you ever said you’ve read a book when you haven’t?

Yup! I did this only the other week BUT I had reason. I was buying a copy of the sequel to The Sea Witch and the lady in the shop asked me had I read the first book and I said yes even though I hadn’t because I was too embarrassed to say that I am the type of muppet that likes to buy all the books in a series even though I may not have yet read the first book…

Verdict… Guilty as charged!!!

Have you ever borrowed a book and not returned it?

Absolutely no way!! I am a really responsible library patron and always return my books in both the condition I borrowed them and on time. And any time a friend or family member has loaned a book to me I have always taken extra special care of the book and without fail have returned it to them.

Verdict… Innocent!

Have you ever read a series out of order?

Not since childhood when I used to read Nancy Drew books, Sweet Valley High books and The Babysitter’s Club books. But it didn’t really matter in those instances as the books tended to be standalones.

Verdict… Mildly guilty!

Have you ever spoiled a book for someone?

Nope! I don’t like spoilers myself so I am very careful about not discussing book plots without being sure that the person has read the book first or asking them if they want to know the spoilers. I have been the recipient of book spoilers though *irritably mutters*

Verdict… Innocent!

Have you ever dog eared a book?

Yup! And I’m not even that bothered about it!!! If I have no other bookmark handy and it is my personal copy of a book then I am okay with dog ears.

Verdict… Guilty!

Have you ever told someone you don’t own a book when you do?

Nope! I freely admit to owning as many books I do. Plus they’re all on display on shelves in my home. It’d be hard to deny their presence lol!

Verdict… Innocent!

Have you ever skipped a chapter or a section of a book?

Oh for sure. It’s not something I really do all that often now but I have definitely skim read a few books that I have not been enjoying just so I can get to the end and find out what happens more quickly.

Verdict… Guilty!!!

Have you ever bad-mouthed a book you actually liked?

Nope! I am quite confident with my bookish opinions and I will always be straight about whether or not I liked, disliked or felt ambivalent about a book.

Verdict… Innocent!!!

And that is it for this tag!!

Even though I am guilty of some of these crimes to me they are not crimes at all and my conscience is clear lol!

I’m not going to tag anyone in particular to do this tag but feel free to take part if you want, and make sure to either comment here or pingback my post so I can see your answers.

Happy reading!

  1. This is a fun tag! I have to admit… I gasped a bit when I read the part about dog-eared books 😛 I’m such a stickler when it comes to that haha! Feel free to enjoy your books however you please though! I love the gifs you used – they’re so expressive! ❤

    1. Oh you’ll probably die hearing that I frequently take a highlighter and/or pen to my books and write in the margins, underline fav passages… I just love the idea that I’m adding to the book’s journey. That if someone else reads the books after me that the book will have its own unique reader story as well as the story written by the author… Yeah I have quirks lol 😂😂😂

      1. Is it weird to say that I enjoy reading books that have that in them (side notes etc)… but I can’t actually fathom the thought of ever taking a pen or highlighter to a book’s page? 😛 Hypocritical of me… but meh! Good on you for sharing your reading journey with others though!
