General Update
Hey everyone!
WHERE DID THIS WEEK GO?????????????
Seriously!
It feels like it just skipped from Monday straight to Sunday!… very strange!
I’ve nothing much to report today so instead of talking about myself and my week I want to link you guys to this AMAZING review of the book ‘Let it Snow’ written by John Green, Maureen Johnson and Lauren Myracle. I read this book back in 2015 I think and found it to be quite bland and really I can’t remember much about it…
But this week my friend and fellow blogger Gabby @A Gathering of Books and Magic read it in preparation for watching the Netflix adaptation and OMG you guys….
SHE WELL AND TRULY SPILLED THE TEA!!!!!!!!!!
I freely admit I was 100% blind to any problematic instances in this book but Gabby has written the most awesome book about it that really shines a spotlight on issues such as rape culture, slut shaming and general negative female stereotyping.
If you all read one book review this week make it this one right here.
What I read
As for me…. YOU GUYS I GOT A READING GROOVE BACK WOO HOO!!!!!!!!!! I read four books this week and feel so happy about it. The books I read were the 2019 Booker Prize nominee ’10 Minutes 38 Seconds in This Strange World’ by Elif Shafak, an eARC called ‘In Five Years’ by Rebecca Serle, a contemporary YA called ‘How to Disappear’ written by Sharon Huss Roat and lastly a graphic novel called ‘Sabrina’ by Nick Drnaso that was longlisted for the Booker Prize in 2018. Reviews for each book will be up on the blog this week.
What I am currently reading
ABSOLUTELY NOTHING!!!!!!!!!!!!
Hahahaha I’m not in a slump, I just have not yet picked out my next read. I have a few ideas floating around my head; Sally Rooney’s ‘Normal People’ is looking like a strong possibility but I am also thinking that I might like to read a science fiction… But I will definitely pick something before the day is out!

I read Gabby’s review yesterday and I just thought that the book sounds like way too much of a hot mess for me to ever want to read. Really not so keen on watching the movie π€·ββοΈ so I’m glad I can now ignore it on Netflix for other cheesier romantic Christmas movies! π I hope this week goes by faster than last week because last year felt like it would never end! Lol have a great week ahead, Emer! Really keen to know what you’ll think of Normal People if you read it next! ALSO can’t wait to hear your thoughts on 10 minutes, 38 seconds in this strange world!

According to Gabby the film is soooo much better. She said they changed a lot of the book and she quite liked it.
I went with a christmas read myself to start off the week, just think that normal people might be a little too literary for my current mood… who knows though. That mood could change tomorrow lol!!

I didn’t know Let it Snow was a book, but I did watch that movie on Netflix yesterday and it was cute haha. I finally read The Downstairs Girl and loved it, review coming soon and I got a few books in from Book Outlet and found Wintersong and Shadowsong by S. Jae-Jones on major discount, so I’m going to be reading those! Glad you got your reading mojo back ~ I’m slowly getting it back, I think. π

Glad you liked the film adaptation Yolanda. I have heard it is much better than the book! And I am very much looking forward to that review.
I’ve read Wintersong (loved it) but have been too chicken to read the sequel!! What if I don’t love it as much lol!! I know… bonkers thinking isn’t it.
Hope next week is a great one for you Yolanda :)))

Yet another successful review and I’ve just read the review you’ve linked for Let It Snow and having never read it, it’s safe to say I probably won’t be.

Oh Gabby’s review is brilliant isn’t it. Honestly I don’t know where my own head was when I read it four years ago. She does recommend the netflix film though, says it’s improved A LOT on the book so you might like to watch it
