Goodreads Monday is a weekly meme that was started by @Lauren’s Page Turners. The meme is pretty easy to follow, to participate simply choose a random book from your TBR and explain why you want to read it!
This week’s book:
The Age of Miracles by Karen Thompson Walker
BLURB FROM GOODREADS

“It’s never the disasters you see coming that finally come to pass—it’s the ones you don’t expect at all,” says Julia, in this spellbinding novel of catastrophe and survival by a superb new writer.
Luminous, suspenseful, unforgettable, The Age of Miracles tells the haunting and beautiful story of Julia and her family as they struggle to live in a time of extraordinary change.
On an ordinary Saturday in a California suburb, Julia awakens to discover that something has happened to the rotation of the earth. The days and nights are growing longer and longer; gravity is affected; the birds, the tides, human behaviour, and cosmic rhythms are thrown into disarray. In a world that seems filled with danger and loss, Julia also must face surprising developments in herself, and in her personal world: divisions widening between her parents; strange behaviour by her friends; the pain and vulnerability of first love; a growing sense of isolation; and a surprising, rebellious new strength.
Why I have not read it yet?
Oh who even knows… Haven’t been in the right mood yet I guess!! At the end of last year I read an eARC of The Dreamers also by Karen Thompson Walker and I was utterly beguiled by the book and its haunting prose so I immediately added this earlier novel of hers to my TBR. And on a book hunting expedition ….okay more shopping spree but expedition sounds more fun! Well I picked up a secondhand copy of this in nigh on pristine condition so I really need to read this already!!
Have you read this book yet? Or is it on your TBR? Let’s chat in the comments below.

This looks soo good and super pretty!! I may have to add this to my TBR since it sounds like a very intriguing read! Awesome post! 😊💜

Firstly, this cover looks so pretty! Like summer evenings ❤ The premise is intriguing too. I love a story that has an in depth look in to family function and relationships. Also, how amazing are second hand books in mint condition?? They make my day!! Jen

The cover of my copy looks different to this one… Was too lazy to find the right one lol 😂😂😂 but this one is much nicer than the one I bought. In fact if I hadn’t been on the look out for a book by this author I don’t think I would have been so inclined to pick it up as it looks a bit ….jaded maybe?? That kind of samey women’s fiction style cover. Amazing how covers cam alter our opinions on what a book may be like inside isn’t it

I haven’t read this, although I don’t often read books of this sort of sub-genre. 😉

I have almost bought The Dreamers about 4 times this year but never thought twice about Age of Miracles. I hope you read it soon so I can see another one of your stellar reviews and presumably grow my TBR!

She’s a fairly new author on me too. I only stumbled across another book of hers last year on NetGalley and that’s what had got me hooked!
