My Answers
A book that a certain friend is always telling you to read
I feel like I am always being recommended to read Vicious by VE Schwab and I was all set to read it recently, even reserved it and brought it home from the library… But now I just don’t feel like reading it again! Admittedly I think this is in large part due to the grubby nature of the library copy. If a book looks like someone spilled a drink or food on it I get a little creeped out by the thoughts of germs…

A book that’s been on your TBR forever and yet you still haven’t picked it up
According to Goodreads the book that is on my TBR shelf the longest is Illusionarium by Heather Wallwork Dixon. It’s been languishing unread since January 2015… But I know there are a bunch of classics that I’ve been saying I will read for a lot longer than that…

A book in a series you’ve started, but haven’t gotten round to finishing yet
Oh I’m always starting series and never finishing them!!!
- I need to read Muse of Nightmares by Laini Taylor, sequel to Strange the Dreamer.
- I need to read Wildcard by Marie Lu, sequel to Warcross.
- I need to read both books 2 and 3 in Claudia Gray’s Firebird series.
- I need to read the third book in the All Souls trilogy by Deborah Harkness.
But the book I’m going to choose for this prompt is Carlos Ruiz Zafon’s The Prisoner of Heaven which is the third of four books in his Cemetery of Forgotten Books series.

A classic you’ve always liked the sound of, but never actually read
Villette by Charlotte Bronte. I adore Jane Eyre and have always meant to read more of Charlotte’s books but have not yet gotten around to reading this yet.

A popular book that it seems everyone but you has read
Hi Harry!

A book that inspired a film/TV adaptation that you really love, but you just haven’t read it yet
The English Patient is one of my all time favourite films but shamefully I have not yet read the book… I have the fear people!!! What if I don’t love it???? THAT IS A LOT OF PRESSURE WHEN YOU LOVE THE FILM AS MUCH AS I DO!!!!

A book you see all over Instagram but haven’t picked up yet
I keep seeing House of Salt and Sorrows EVERYWHERE. And I will read it but I am scared because I don’t like things that are kinda creepy and I have heard this is especially creepy!!!!

And finally I tag…
Eh everyone???? This tag is apparently a bit on the old side so everyone has probably done it already but if you haven’t and want to be tagged then consider yourself tagged!!!!

“The English Patient” is one of my all-time favorite books, and because I love the book so much, I absolutely HATE the movie, which screwed the story up BIG TIME! So… technically, they’re almost not the same thing. That said, you might not love the book if you aren’t into slightly less conventional prose, that borders on the poetic, and isn’t obvious.

Omg you hate the film!!!! See I totally get this…because I typically hate the film adaptations of all books I love. I’m actually quite happy to hear that they’re different. And your description of the prose makes me super curious!!!!

Like I said, his style is very poetic in this book, so it is unusual, but for me, it was a revelation.

Omg you’re worse than me lol!!! Although if I was to actually count series I’ve started and not finished I’d probably have a similar number 😂😂😂

Haha, yeah and those are all ones that I could finish where the books are all out already. It’s so bad.

This is a fun tag! I’m adding this to my to-do list for when I’m not feeling so lazy 😛 I’m the same about HOSAS… wimpy at heart but so eager to see what all of the fuss is about! Jen

I have the same problem with the English patient! I love the movie and so I’m scared to read the book. What’s even worse, I’ve had the book for almost 20 years and still haven’t read it!
As for the Zafon’s series, if you liked the first two you should read the rest. The fourth book is brilliant!

The fear about the English patient is so real isn’t it!!! One of my all time fav films for sure. I own the book too lol…don’t know when I’ll read it 🙈😂
And I’m so excited to read Zafon. I always like to read his books around Christmas for some reason so I think I’ll get to book 3 then :))))
