Jack Ellison King. King of Almost.
He almost made valedictorian.
He almost made varsity.
He almost got the girl . . .
When Jack and Kate meet at a party, bonding until sunrise over their mutual love of Froot Loops and their favorite flicks, Jack knows he’s falling—hard. Soon she’s meeting his best friends, Jillian and Franny, and Kate wins them over as easily as she did Jack. Jack’s curse of almost is finally over.
But this love story is . . . complicated. It is an almost happily ever after.
Because Kate dies. And their story should end there.
Yet Kate’s death sends Jack back to the beginning, the moment they first meet, and Kate’s there again. Beautiful, radiant Kate. Healthy, happy, and charming as ever.
Jack isn’t sure if he’s losing his mind. Still, if he has a chance to prevent Kate’s death, he’ll take it. Even if that means believing in time travel.
However, Jack will learn that his actions are not without consequences. And when one choice turns deadly for someone else close to him, he has to figure out what he’s willing to do—and let go—to save the people he loves.
I LOVED THIS BOOK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I read it the week my doggie had to have some minor surgery and both she and I were feeling VERY sorry for ourselves and this book cheered me up SOOOOO MUCH!!!!!!!!!
Like I’m not crying. You’re crying…
Okay. So I admit it.
I’m a giant sap underneath all the layers of cynicism.
THIS BOOK GOD DAMN IT!
So freaking cute and just…
It’s basically a homage to Groundhog Day which is one of my all time favourite films…
It’s not just me who loves it right??????…
Anyway this book.
DID I MENTION CUTE???
I loved it. Gave me all of the feels.
And also little nerdy scientist in me appreciated the nod to Zinc Finger Nucleases. Can’t have CRISPR stealing all of the limelight….
This review is pretty pointless is’t it……. Basically if you’re in the mood for something adorable but easy to read and aren’t averse to a HEFTY amount of romance… which I adore. I freely admit my favourite reads always have a romantic plotline running through them and this one is just…. HEART MELTING!!!
Basically it’s a story about love, friendship and time-travel……… Yeah SUSPEND THAT BELIEF RIGHT NOW OKAY?!?!?! This book is not about awkward things such as believability…… It asks the question what would you do if you had the power to change the future in some way…
YOU WOULD OF COURSE CHANGE IT!! DON’T LIE!!!!!!!!
So this is what happens our MC Jack. He meets Kate at a party and omg *SWOON I DID* but then things go wrong and he doesn’t get the girl like he hopes because well she dies……….
BUT THEN HE WAKES UP IN THE PAST AND HE HAS A SECOND CHANCE TO GIVE KATE A HAPPIER OUTCOME IN LIFE AND AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!
I was hooked…
Every different timeline / feedback loop or whatever you want to call it had me rooting sooooo hard for Jack and Kate and omg I LOVED THE OVERALL THEME OF THE BOOK!!!!!!!!!! That of worrying about the future and trying to change its outcomes being rather redundant…
JUST LIVE IN THE HERE AND NOW PEOPLE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
This was still a pointless review no matter how hard I tried wasn’t it?? LOLLLLLLLLL!! Just read the book. It’s too cute for words!
