Goodreads Monday is a weekly meme that was started by @Lauren’s Page Turners. The meme is pretty easy to follow, to participate simply choose a random book from your TBR and explain why you want to read it!
This week’s book:
Transcription by Kate Atkinson
BLURB FROM GOODREADS

In 1940, eighteen-year old Juliet Armstrong is reluctantly recruited into the world of espionage. Sent to an obscure department of MI5 tasked with monitoring the comings and goings of British Fascist sympathisers, she discovers the work to be by turns both tedious and terrifying. But after the war has ended, she presumes the events of those years have been relegated to the past for ever.
Ten years later, now a producer at the BBC, Juliet is unexpectedly confronted by figures from her past. A different war is being fought now, on a different battleground, but Juliet finds herself once more under threat. A bill of reckoning is due, and she finally begins to realise that there is no action without consequence.
Transcription is a work of rare depth and texture, a bravura modern novel of extraordinary power, wit and empathy. It is a triumphant work of fiction from one of this country’s most exceptional writers.
Why I have not read it yet?
Mostly due to having not been in the right mood for historical fiction recently but this one is definitely staying on the TBR as that blurb sounds extremely compelling.
Have you read this book? Or added it to your TBR? Let’s chat in the comments below!

I’d never heard of Goodreads Monday before, but now I want to try it, looks like a fun feature! Also, I’d never heard of this book and after that summary I definitely want to check it out! I’m always picky with spy/espionage books, but this one sounds really good! Awesome post! ❤

Historical fiction just isn’t really my thing. I like the flamingo on the cover though!

It’s a great cover, I have to agree. Historical fiction can be a bit hit and miss for me I find but when it’s done well I do love it :)))

Oh Dini I feel you!!! I won’t even bother doing that remove books from your TBR meme because I know it’s pointless! Especially when half the books I own aren’t even on my GR TBR lol!!!!! 😂😂😂
