The epic conclusion to Lauren James’s debut The Next Together about true love and reincarnation.
Sixteen years ago, after a scandal that rocked the world, teenagers Katherine and Matthew vanished without a trace. Now Clove Sutcliffe is determined to find her long lost relatives.
But where do you start looking for a couple who seem to have been reincarnated at every key moment in history? Who were Kate and Matt? Why were they born again and again? And who is the mysterious Ella, who keeps appearing at every turn in Clove’s investigation?
For Clove, there is a mystery to solve in the past and a love to find in the future, and failure could cost the world everything.
I HAVE FEELS
I HAVE INCOHERENT FEELS!!!
This series is like one of those classic old oil paintings. Up close it’s pretty and colourful and interesting to look at… BUT STEP BACK AND IT IS A MASTERPIECE
We have normalised diversity. Clove Ella. I SHIP YOU WITH EVERY FIBRE OF MY SOUL
Nerdy science brilliance from all the main characters BUT WITHOUT THAT BEING THE ONLY DISCERNING PERSONALITY TRAITS OF SAID SCIENTIST CHARACTERS
Intelligent use of alternative storytelling styles (documents / coding etc) that don’t feel overly done or like a fad unlike other YA series *cough I’m looking at you Illuminae Files cough cough*
Book one was a headfuck and could have worked as an open ended standalone if Lauren James was so inclined BUT I AM SO GLAD THAT SHE WROTE THIS AS A DUOLOGY BECAUSE WOW!!!!!!!! Like so much stuff in book one suddenly clicks into place in book two and I bow down.
LAUREN JAMES YOU ARE MY QUEEN. AN AUTO BUY AUTHOR FOR DEFINITE AND I WILL BE YOUR DEVOTED FANGIRL
And best of all….
ITS THE CHICKEN OR THE EGG PARADOX…. yes I know that answering that results in a dichotomy because *evolution* …. BUT CHICKEN OR THE EGG PEOPLE!!!!!
I love it.
Also this review makes no sense.
BUT I DON’T CARE.
TAKE MY FIVE STARS THE LAST BEGINNING BECAUSE YOU ARE FABULOUSLY ENTERTAINING
I LOVE IT AND EVERYONE SHOULD READ THIS SERIES. OKAY!!!
