I’m back with another edition of The Sunshine Blogger Award. This time I was nominated by my dear friend Whitney @Whit Reads Lit. I was tagged back in January and am only getting to this now….. OOPS I AM SORRY WHITNEY!!! But thank you so much for the tag Whitney. It was very nice of you to think of me when choosing your nominations and I much appreciate it.
I was also tagged by Jess @Beyond the Front Cover for this same award back in February…. I KNOW!!!! SO BEHIND ON TAGS EMER!!! But thank you so much Jess, it really is so nice when people think of me for these tags and awards because they mean a lot plus it’s a whole lot of fun writing these posts.
Today I am going to answer both Whitney and Jess’ questions in one big ol’ Sunshine Blogger post and tag a bunch of people for this award when I’m finished.

Questions from Whitney
1: Do you like to read seasonally? (i.e. a winter book in winter, and so on)
Not really. I am a mood reader so I never know where that mood will take me. But I guess I like to read Christmas books at Christmas….I know, shocking right!!!!!
2: Do you use bookstagram? What is your username?
I do have a bookstagram but I am not very active on it. It’s @alittlehaze so the same as my twitter etc. I typically use instagram to chat to a few friends and stalk publishers, authors and my favourite musicians. I follow a scary number of John Mayer fan accounts…
3: Print, e-book, or audio?
NEVER audio. Audio sends me to sleep or I get irked by the narrator… just a big fat nope to audio. I am torn between print and eBook. I love the convenience of an eBook but ahhh I love those print babies and supporting indie bookshops!
4: What is your biggest bookish pet peeve?
Killing off the chronically ill character so that the able bodied leads can learn something stupidly cliched about their death… oh we must admit our true love Karen because Beth told us to value each day as if it was our last just before she conveniently died off page so we the author would not have to deal with the ugly minutiae of death.
5: Spring, Summer, Autumn, or Winter?
6: Do you know your Hogwarts House? Your patronus?
I have never read Harry Potter but I did do the house sorting thingy and I’m a huffalump! Yeah I can’t remember the exact name it’s called and effort of googling lol! I have no clue what a patronus is.
7: Where is your favourite place to shop?
A bookshop obvs!!!! Once this pandemic is over I hope that my favourite independent book stores will still be in business so I can have a little spending spree.
8: What do you do for fun, besides reading?
I like to listen to a lot of music and watch a whole lot of tennis on TV….you know when it’s not cancelled because of COVID-19.
9: What would be your ultimate vacation?
I need to see all the historical sites in Greece.
10: If you were suddenly given $500,000, what would you do with it?
Be very boring and pay bills, insurance etc., give some money to my family to help out with their bills and stuff. Go on a bit of a book buying splurge and then save, save, save… I know… how terribly unexciting.
11: What blog do you think more people should be following?
OMG I have too many that I could list. Basically y’all need to follow all the blogs I am following! There are so many wonderful book bloggers out there and I am privileged to call a whole bunch of the people behind them my friends.
Questions from Jess
1 – What is your greatest achievement to date?
I think graduating from university is my greatest achievement because my path to that qualification was far from easy as due to my longterm chronic illness I stopped attending regular school age 14 and didn’t eventually graduate from uni until I was over 30. Along the way I was told by many people that I shouldn’t dare to dream of a third level education and proving the naysayers wrong felt really good.
2 – Name one thing that is guaranteed to annoy you?
I cannot stand cluttered environments. I like simple, clean, functional spaces.
3 – What made you decide to start your blog, and does that reason still stand for why you continue?
I wanted to talk more about books! I have been an active member of Goodreads for a number of years but I felt that I was confined to the review format for book discussion and with my blog there are so many more angles that I can now use to discuss my favourite hobby. Plus I wanted to get more ARCs from NetGalley! And those reasons are still true today some ten months or so later.
4 – If you could visit one place in the world then where would you go, and why?
Right now in the middle of this pandemic? I would love to go home and see my parents.
5 – If you could only read books from one genre then which one would you pick?
Contemporary. I like reading about realistic characters living in modern times.
6 – What was the last thing that happened to make you smile?
My dog running up to me looking for cuddles.
7 – If you could live a day as a character from a book then who would that character be, and why?
Elizabeth Bennet. Because Darcy!
8 – Which season is your favourite?
9 – What is the best piece of advice that you have been given?
Listen to your mother!
10 – Which subject at school was your favourite, and which did you hate?
LOVED all of the sciences and maths.
HATED languages especially Irish…yuck!
11 – If you could only eat one food for the rest of your life then what would you pick?
And those are my answers! Thanks again to both Whitney and Jess for nominating me.
What do you guys think of them? Do you agree/disagree with any of them?
