Goodreads Monday (21/09/2020)

Goodreads Monday is a weekly meme that was started by Lauren’s Page Turners. The meme is pretty easy to follow, to participate simply choose a random book from your TBR and explain why you want to read it!

This week’s book:

To Sleep in a Sea of Stars by Christopher Paolini

Kira Navárez dreamed of life on new worlds.

Now she’s awakened a nightmare.

During a routine survey mission on an uncolonised planet, Kira finds an alien relic. At first she’s delighted, but elation turns to terror when the ancient dust around her begins to move.

As war erupts among the stars, Kira is launched into a galaxy-spanning odyssey of discovery and transformation. First contact isn’t at all what she imagined, and events push her to the very limits of what it means to be human.

While Kira faces her own horrors, Earth and its colonies stand upon the brink of annihilation. Now, Kira might be humanity’s greatest and final hope . . .”

Why I Want to Read This

  1. Pretty Cover
  2. That blurb
  3. Have I mentioned the pretty cover?????

I’ve never read anything by this author before but I believe he wrote some super popular series with dragons for a YA or younger audience??? I’m far too lazy to look up the actual details LOL!

ANYWAY this book sounds right up my street. I do love a good science fiction epic and apparently this book is a bit on the chunky side so I’m thinking it might be best to read this on kindle!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Have you read this yet? Or read anything by this author? Let’s chat in the comments below!

  1. I’ve read Paolini’s Eragon book one and stopped reading at book two… BUT I’m super excited for To Sleep in a Sea of Stars because LOOK AT THE TITLE!! Also wanted to try the audiobook version but it’s 32 hours long… I think I’ll read it instead.

  2. THIS COVER. I want this on my shelf for this cover. I mean, the story sounds amazing too and I did enjoy his dragon series (lol) when I was younger, so I’m hoping I’ll enjoy this one just as much. It’s definitely a chunkster to read on the Kindle though!

  3. Ahhhh yes I’m so excited to read this too!!! I got it for my brother (he loved the Eragon series so I figured he might like it), but I can’t wait to read it either! (Maybe he’ll let me lend it from him…) I never got around to reading Eragon, but this sounds amazing 🙂
